The central canteen
The central canteen is situated in Campus de Santa Apolónia in Bragança. In the main room Lunch and Dinner are served from Monday to Saturday. The price is 2,15€ for a meal (2 plates to choose) and from Monday to Friday there are 2 extra plates to choose from, at 2,75€ each. Around 1700 meals are served daily in the canteen. Tickets for the meals are available in the automatic selling machines in each school (ESTiG, ESA, ESE and ESSA) and in the central canteen. Opening hours are from Monday to Friday: 12:00-14:30/19:00-21:00 and Saturday : 12:00-14:00/19:00-20:30.
The Mirandela canteen
The IPB canteen in Mirandela serves lunches from Monday to Friday 12:00-14:30 and dinners from Monday to Thursday 19:00-20:30. Tickets are available in the automatic selling machines in EsACT.
The IPB provides wireless Internet for all the students. To use the Internet, you have to go with your International Student Booklet to ESTG ( the Booklet you will get at the International Office in the ESE), to Centro de Informática, and there you will be given a password to use the Internet freely. If you dont have your own laptop, you can use the computers available in each school. The school is open 24 hours a day, so you have access to the Internet all the time.
Each school has a snack-bar, where you can buy sandwiches, drinks, snacks, etc.
At ESE (School of Education) there is a fitness centre where you can practise Gymnocombat, Gymnopump, Step, Circuit training, Fitball and Body building.
At IPB you can find books in English, French, Spanish and some other languages in the library in each of its Schools. They are open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 20:00 and from 20:30 to 22:30 and Sundays from 11:00 to 13:00.
Most of the classrooms are equipped with video projectors which allow students to give their multimedia presentations.
ESN BRAGANÇA organizes trips, dinners and parties for international students. If you want to take part in these events, you should.
Shopping – There are few supermarkets in Bragança where you can do shopping and usually they are cheaper than small groceries, but most of them are quite far away from the town centre.
Lidl - Rua Dr. Alexandre Faria - Bairro da Estação, Bragança (close to the bus station), open every day, from 9:00 to 21:00 (some German products can be bought there)
Intermarché - Lugar de Vale de Álvaro 5300, Bragança, open every day from 9:00 to 20:00 (some French products can be bought there)
Modelo - Avenida Abade Baçal – Britelo, Bragança, open every day from 9.00 to 22.00
Pingo Doce - Zona Industrial das Cantarias - Alto das Cantarias, Bragança, open every day, from 9:00 to 21:00. (some Polish products can be bought there)
Minipreço – It is one of the cheapest supermarkets in Bragança. There are two Minipreço supermarkets in Bragança. The first one is located in Mercado Municipal, open from Monday to Saturday 9:00 to 20:00, Sunday from 9:00 to 13:00 / 15:00 to 19:00. The second one is situated on Avenida Sá Carneiro, open every day from 10:00 to 20:00. This one is closer to IPB.
- Shopping Centre Forum Theatrum is also located in Avenida Sá Carneiro, close to the theatre. There are plenty of restaurants (Pizza Hut, Kebab, Big Bob’s, etc.) and some clothes shop. Here you can also buy your mobile card (Vodafone, Optimus, TMN). It is open from 10:00 to 22:00 and the cinema is open until 23:30.
The market is organized monthly on day 3, 12 and 21 of each month. It occurs on the marketplace close to Mercado and Shopping Centre. There you can buy many various products like fresh fruit and vegetables, souvenirs, clothes etc.

Restaurants and bars
There are plenty of restaurants in the town and some traditional restaurants in villages nearby. Lunchtime is around 12:30/13:00 and dinnertime is at 19:00/20:00. Most of the places are open from 12:00-15:00/19:00-22:00. You should try some Portuguese and regional traditional dishes like "posta" (big beef steak), "bacalhau à brás" (cod with chips) or “feijoada à transmontana” (beans with beef and sausage). The average price for a meal is about 6-10€ per person. Many restaurants are located in Avenida Sá Carneiro, the main street of the town.
Most of the pubs and bars are open from 13:00 to 02:00. The average price of a beer is 1€ and of a coffee 0,50€. Parties in the discos ("Mercado", "Moda" and "Havana) start quite late, about 2:00, and finish about 6:00 in the morning. If you own an ESNcard you get lower prices in the main bars.
The town has an indoor swimming pool, situated in Avenida D. Sancho I which is open from Monday to Friday from 15:00 to 21:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00/ 15:00 to 19:00. It costs 1,68 € per hour.

You can attend some musical events there; however, most of the drama performances are played in Portuguese.
For those who like to walk and enjoy the nature, we recommend a walk to the city park (called Polis). If you fancy going a little farther, the beautiful Montesinho Natural Park is waiting for you. This Natural Park is one of the biggest in Portugal and there are more than 240 species of wild animals living there. Most of the campsites offer an access to an outdoor swimming pool.
Also worth visiting is the Azibo Lagoon, located about 30 kilometres from Bragança, on the way to Porto (IP4). Local infrastructures allow you not only the simple activities like sunbathing and swimming, but also hiking, climbing, canoeing, sailing, and windsurfing. Puebla de Sanabria is a charming medieval village located about 40 kilometres from Bragança. The main natural attraction there is the beautiful Sanabria Lake, with plenty of campsites and wooden huts. Wild horses can be seen at the top of the snowy mountain.
Zamora is situated about 100 kilometres from Bragança. With its over 20 Romanesque churches, it has been called a "museum of Romanesque art".
